Supporting
OAB
We
know OAB are not the only charity out there, and that many
of you reading this are inundated by funding requests. We
are not here to harass you, nor do we wish to be a burden.
Instead,
we would like you to see OAB as YOUR local charity. We’d
like to think that, every time you choose to make a donation,
set up a standing order, include OAB within your Will, or
even spare some time to help by volunteering, that you are
happy to do so; that it is something you are proud of.
As
you have already read, in the future (among other things)
we’d like to be able to send an OAB written guide for
equipment to anyone in Oxfordshire who wants one, while we
are also keen to put together a county-wide volunteering service
for visually impaired people who would like that extra bit
of help around the home.
The
main problem is, of course, doing these things requires more
funding. We’re working hard on gaining extra income
sources – we were recently successful in a grant application
to the Sobell Foundation, for example – but there is
no help like that from the local community. If you would like
to help OAB by making a donation towards our future services,
then please feel free to use the following donation or standing
order forms, which you can tear out to then be sent to OAB.
Thank you.
Your
story; your work; your words
We’re
grateful to Dr David Dendy for his article on the superb scrolling
technique he recently “reinvented”, while, as
you may remember, in other recent editions of this newsletter,
we’ve been able to publish some wonderful stories by
OAB members about their experiences: from holidaying in Devon,
to bowling in Oxford. We’d like to print even more.
If
you have a story or poem you’d like published, an experience
you’d like to tell of, or even some helpful advice you’d
like to share, we would be very happy to hear from you. After-all,
this newsletter is your space as much as it is ours!
Articles
can be posted to the usual address or emailed to fundraising@oxeyes.org.uk
If
you would rather speak to someone on the phone first, please
call Ben or David on 01865 725595.
Thank
you.
